11-02-2008 Boris Johnson named CIPR President's Communicator of the Year

Boris Johnson has today been awarded the CIPR President's Medal for his unique communications style and ability to engage with his audience.

The President's Medal is awarded at the sole discretion of the CIPR President.

Lionel Zetter, CIPR President for 2007, said: "For me Boris Johnson is one of the great communicators of our age. He is a prolific writer and commentator, communicating via numerous and vastly different channels.

"Boris gets through to a wide range of audiences. He uses his wide cultural knowledge and humour to good effect in deliverng well-directed speeches. He rarely compromises and does not fear controversy.

"Boris' style of communications is truly refreshing, and I am proud to bestow the President's Medal on him."

Boris Johnson, Conservative candidate for Mayor of London, added:

"It's a huge privilege to be given this award. I firmly believe my way of communicating can connect with people who often feel their political representatives are out of touch. I would like to add it is my absolute pleasure to accept this award today and encourage people to keep listening!"

The award was presented by CIPR President 2007 Lionel Zetter at a private lunch at the CIPR HQ in London on 11 February 2008.
